Hurricane Isaias has devastated communities across the Southeast, leaving hundreds of thousands without power and many experiencing flooding and disrupted essential services.
For disabled people, these disruptions are often life-threatening. A power outage can mean losing access to oxygen concentrators, charging mobility aids, and other essential equipment. Flooded roads, inaccessible shelters, and interruptions to daily services can leave people without the support they need to stay safe and independent in their communities.
At the same time, Tropical Storm Rachel is threatening Southern California, Nevada, and other Southwestern states with dangerous flooding.
The Partnership is already responding, and we need your help!
Our Disability & Disaster Hotline is receiving calls from people impacted by Isaias. We are supporting daily coordination calls with Florida's Independent Living network and staying in touch with disability-led partners throughout other impacted states to identify urgent needs and coordinate resources.
Your donations help us continue:
Operating our Disability & Disaster Hotline and connecting survivors with critical resources and assistance.
Supporting local disability-led organizations responding to their communities.
Advocating for disability rights and preventing institutionalization.
Filling the gaps in traditional disaster response, during Isaias and every disaster to come.
Our response does not end when the storm passes. Disabled people face barriers throughout disaster recovery, often for years later, and our Hotline remains available year-round.
By becoming a recurring donor, you help us sustain our response efforts and remain ready for the next disaster.
Every donation helps, and every share extends our reach.
Please share this with your friends, colleagues, and networks. Together, we can support more disabled disaster survivors and strengthen the disability-led response our communities need.
Thank you for supporting our work!
