Kevin Moore
Kevin Moore
Hotline Coordinator
Kevin Moore is a DMV-based Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing professional dedicated to paving inclusive pathways for marginalized peoples around the world. His disability advocacy work was catalyzed in 2022 when he participated in a protest to defend against the potential shutdown of the University of South Florida’s ASL Interpreter Training Program (ITP), one of the only ITPs in the state of Florida that taught a generalized ASL Interpreting curriculum. He then re-founded the ASL Club to prove to the university that the USF ASL/Deaf community is still thriving on the campus. As a result of his disability advocacy work on campus, Kevin was invited to serve on the Student-led Accessibility Task Force under the Student Government as a Student Board Member – creating surveys to assess student body accessibility needs, hosting public forums, and collaborating with USF’s Presidential Advisory Committee on Accessibility to improve campus accessibility for students with disabilities.
Recently, Kevin decided to take his advocacy work global by becoming a 2024 USAID Donald M. Payne Sr. Fellow, committing to a career as a Foreign Service Officer to support the management of the United States’ foreign assistance priorities and interests. Due to changes in the presidential administration and his graduate education at American University’s School of International Service, he broadened his career path to support multilateral and international organizations to further global cooperation in preventing and resolving international conflicts and crises. As a Global Diplomat, Kevin is passionate about curating experiences that resolve international disputes, bridge cultures and peoples, and create spaces where accessibility and inclusivity are never an afterthought. Supporting The Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies in the management of the Disability & Disaster Hotline will enable him to continue his disability advocacy work and develop innovative strategies to (1) strengthen the hotline’s reach and (2) expand the organization’s internal operations.
Outside of The Partnership, Kevin can be found learning new languages, traveling domestically and internationally, planning/volunteering/attending DMV-based events, and rewatching his favorite sitcoms!
