Dear Community,
Welcome to the 2023 Quarter 1 edition of The Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies' newsletter. As the leading U.S. disability-led organization dedicated to equity for people with disabilities and access and functional needs before, during, and after disasters and emergencies, we are excited to share our recent accomplishments with you.
In this issue, we highlight our efforts to provide resources and information during the California atmospheric river winter storms, support solar power in Puerto Rico, and seek to assist disabled people affected by earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria with GADRA. We also announced the reintroduction of the REAADI (Real Emergency Access for Aging and Disability Inclusion) for Disasters Act, and we remembered the life and legacy of the Mother of Disability Rights, Judy Heumann.
Our Disability & Disaster Hotline is available 24/7 to provide referrals and assistance to disabled individuals and families affected by disasters.
We thank our generous supporters, including Borealis Philanthropy Disability Inclusion Fund, Ford Foundation, and hundreds of individual donors who help us achieve and maintain equity and full inclusion for people with disabilities and access and functional needs.
As always, please feel free to contact us at info@disasterstrategies.org to learn more about our services and how we can help you increase preparedness and resiliency, reduce your risk during disasters, and revolutionize your emergency planning.
