Sign On: Restore Solar Programs for Disabled People in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico’s unstable electric grid is a disability justice issue.

For many disabled people, older adults, and others with high energy needs, electricity is essential to keep medical equipment running, medications refrigerated, communication devices charged, and people safe and independent in their homes and communities.

That is why the Puerto Rico Energy Resilience Fund’s (PR-ERF) rooftop solar and battery programs are so important. Congress created this funding to support power-dependent disabled people and low-income households with backup power when the grid fails in Puerto Rico. Now the U.S. Department of Energy has abruptly cancelled the program.

Please sign your organization’s support to restore this vital program by Friday, March 27.

Effective January 9, 2026, the rooftop solar program under PR-ERF was cancelled without notice, leaving thousands of households that had already been approved without a critical resource they were counting on. We cannot accept a decision that increases the risk of harm, institutionalization, and death for disabled people and at-risk communities during outages.

Please sign on to the letter calling for the immediate restoration of these programs. Add your organization’s name and help us amplify this urgent call for disability rights, community resilience, and the resources people need to survive and remain in their communities.

In Solidarity with disabled people in Puerto Rico,
The Partnership
