Cooling the Crisis: Heat Emergencies and People with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities

Introducing Cooling the Crisis

Heat emergencies can be scary, and it can be hard to know what to do when one happens, especially if you don’t have a plan. But what is extreme heat, and why does it matter for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD)?

Created in partnership with the Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN), the resources below answer these questions and provide immediate and long-term heat mitigation strategies for people with I/DD.

If you have any accessibility questions, please reach out to Priya Penner at priya@disasterstrategies.org.
