Sponsor and Exhibitor Guide

Our Getting It Right conferences bring together leading inclusive emergency and disaster experts, disability leaders, emergency managers, planners, federal, tribal, territorial, state and local government, elected officials, public health and public safety experts, faith leaders, business and industry and higher education leaders who want to learn more about how to improve readiness and recovery for individuals, families, communities and businesses. The focus of Getting It Right is on expanding our shared commitment to achieving and sustaining disability inclusive whole community emergency preparedness, community resilience, response, recovery and mitigation before, during, and after disasters.

In 2017, the Partnership held a one-day meeting in Washington DC, with 140 attendees. We held two Getting It Right one-day conferences in Northern and Southern CA, with 320 attendees. We anticipate 300+ attendees for our May 23-25, 2018 Getting It Right National Conference.

We are pleased to announce that Craig Fugate, former FEMA Administrator and Congressman Benny Thompson (MS), ranking member of the US House of Representatives, Homeland Security Committee have both been confirmed as keynote speakers. Additional invitations have been extended to Senators Bob Casey (PA) and Susan Collins (ME), U.S. House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (TX), mayors from several disaster-impacted communities, leading media personalities and, of course, we have confirmed the leading experts on Disability Inclusive Emergency Management from across the country.

The past year has been a time of devastating community and economic impacts due to disasters around the world. In the U.S., there were at least 16 catastrophic disasters with over 300 lives lost. The cumulative cost of these disasters is $306.2 billion dollars. Among the people who lost their lives or sustained serious injuries, people with disabilities and older adults were impacted at disproportionally high rates. Disability inclusive emergency preparedness is imperative to whole community readiness and resilience and would have made a difference in outcomes for individuals, families and communities across the disaster impacted areas.

We can do better, and we must GET IT RIGHT!

The Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies (the Partnership) is a national coalition of thousands of individuals and organizations with a shared mission. We are committed to increasing individual and community capacity for equal access and full inclusion of people with access and functional needs for optimal whole community emergency preparedness, support when disaster strikes and community engagement throughout disaster recovery to build back better and truly improve safety and community resilience for all.

Join us in Washington, DC on May 23-25, 2018 to share promising and good practices, learn more about what works, new opportunities, responsibilities and where organizations, communities and businesses can find the resources to pay for improving whole community accessible disaster readiness and disability inclusive community resilience.
