June’s consulting practice focuses on building disability competencies in the worlds of health care and emergency management to insure people with disabilities and others with access and functional needs are integrated and included in service delivery processes, procedures, protocols, policies and training. She is well known for leading the way in moving the emergency management world from the vague “special needs” focus to operationalizing an access and functional needs approach using CMIST and adopting use of Functional Assistance Service Teams (FAST). She led teams is developing, teaching, and subsequently getting FEMA approval 2 courses: FAST and “Integrating Access and Functional Needs to Emergency Planning, Response and Recovery.” June is also the Associate Director Center for Disability and Health Policy at Western University of Health Sciences, in Pomona, California.
